My wife hit a Royal Flush at the Cal Neva for $1150. When they paid her they said she was lucky it was under $1200 - we wouldn't have to do any tax forms. I think the point where they are required to do the W-2G is based on the ratio of the winnings to the amount bet - at least at the race tracks I think the only time you have to do the W-2G is when you hit a big exotic - like the pick 6 for over $1200. If you bet $100 to win on a 12 to 1 long shot and win no tax forms are required.
