In Response To: Re: OR..... small problem ()

Thanks Pete - my feelings exactly - pass/fail.

Just this weekend I had the following three responses to the question "Does it stand on edge?":

"Are you serious? You always ask the same question. Maybe my desk isn't level."

"You seem to be a condition buyer, I am not interested in selling chips to you."

"They made chips different in the 70's and the edges were made tapered, not square like they are today"

These guys are just too funny - clearly they rather sell to someone who is not going to examine the chip too closely.

YES, I always ask the same questions, because I AM a condition buyer - I want a chip in decent shape, not some smooth piece of "clay" and that test gives me at least some indication about the chip. The liar that told me chips were MADE tapered in the 70's was just fishing for suckers and the sad part is I'm sure he hooked one.

Grading is subjective, but I look at edges, cross-hatching, rim nicks and inlay condition to get an indea of the condition of the chip. Cracked, drilled or otherwise damaged chips have little to no interest for me.

Lots of sellers list it if a chip stands on edge, so can anyone tell me why these sellers be reluctant to say whether or not the chip stands?

Hey - on another note - the DI 2.50 ewing mold sold last night for . . . . drumroll please:

$152!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HUH!

I got one free for joining the club and bet there are those that would give me 2 to leave grin

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Cheers,

Sonny
