I think I may be missing something here...?

Mack,

What would be the purpose of removing the hot-stamp? In the instances of removing a worn hot-stamp, is this not the same as accelerating the wear 'n tear process, if not actually causing additional damage?

In the instances of removing a hot-stamp cancellation, is this not artificially altering the state (condition) of the chip?

Although others have advised "how" to do it, I be curious to know "why"?
