I don't think the gesture was good at all. The seller (no matter who he is) did not deliver the goods to you as promised, ergo you got took.

On a personal level, if someone told me he didn't receive the goods ordered, he would either get another shipment (if I had an extra one) or else I would refund his check--but never ever have enough guts to ask him to pay another $2.00 to ship a $0.49¢ package.

In my opinion, you got took. And if your crazy enough to remit $5.00 to ship what is yours in the first place, then please do more business with me.
