Re: IT ALWAYS PAYS TO ASK...

THis is the other set that I referred to above. It was picked up at a house sale from a neighbor. I hadn't had them out in a while but when looking at them they are plastic. They interlock and are nice looking. They sound good when clicked together and are of decent weight but don't really appear as anything really that special. The wooden Carousel was in rough shape when we got it and we attempted to refinish it. I guess we use the wrong kind of finish on it as over the years some chips stuck into the top and the finish or stain seemed to have stained some, especially the white, chips. There was also a cardboard type cover that is now missing. Also missing is a brass handle that was on the top. Out of what appears to be a 500 chip set there are still about 425 or 430 chips remaining.

THESE CHIPS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE. I am simply posting them for information purposes. Finding these around the house brought back memories of the house sale where we found them and has had me thinking about collecting some sets that I might find from garage, yard, house and estate sales. I have wanted to buy my own set for some time and have looked, with interest, at the 11.5g dice chips. However at the costs for new chips I have an itch that it might be more fun to see what I can find during summer rummage type sales.

If anyone out there does know anything about them I would be interested in any information.
