"I don't put as much faith in Gene's information involving who had the rights etc. to the mold"

I think if I ask, I could produce records as to when Borland obtained rights to the NV and DiCd molds. But would it make any difference? Would any "proof" make a difference. People that "want" these chips to be real, would still find agruments.

"to paint ALL chips with the same brush when in fact Boreland actually made "real" chips for casinos as well as fakes."

I agree, but not before 1990. In fact, I have one and I know its real. Allan has it listed as a Borland in TCR. grin

"Gene talks about the various dates - however, the records Jerry Wall got from Boreland did not support what Bud Jones told Gene."

What records? Can we see them? Did you see them? Has anyone seen them?

"Gene talked to someone at Bud Jones."

Gene talked to "Bud Jones" and the only salkesman BJ had at the time.

As far as the brassy gold foil goes. Get a bunch of them and play poker with them for a few months and report back to this BB what they look like.

All that said:

I can see why a chip seller would fight to the end to claim Borlands chip are real. (this statement is not aimed at James)

If I was a chip seller, and everytime I sold a chip, it produced a long thread about it being counterfit, I think I would stick to the 10,000's of other chips there are to sell. Why would I want to damage my reputation on a few "possible" Borlands? Jimbo, it does not matter what you, I, or anyone else says or thinks, at this point. These chips are tainted for history. No one should ever sell them without mentioning the "possibility" of what they "might" be.

I believe future authors of books on NV chips should in some way, identify the "possibility" of all questionable Borland chips. I am not talking about all NV & DiCd molds. We all know which ones are questionable.

The so called "questionable chips, IMO have more history than the so called "real chips" from the same casino.

So, we will never settle the debate. Lets agree that we both will call them "questionable". I will quit typing "counterfit" and you will quit typing "real." grin

That said:
I have 31 chips that I believe are "questionable. They are not all of the "questionable" chips out there. I have a total of $81 tied up in my 31 "questionable" chips. 31 "questionable" pieces of history. I am not considering selling them but if I were, I would not consider any offer under $3,100 for them.
