I never meant to suggest that the inclusion of a reserve in an auction was meant to be either sneaky or dishonest. I used the word "tricky" because the reserve introduces what I feel is an unnecessary twist into the proceedings, as opposed to just conducting the auction in a straightforward manner and starting it at the minimum level the seller finds acceptable.
