Re: NOT True!
In Response To: Re: NOT True! ()

Hi Archie & Paul, Guess I have to stick my nose in here for a bit.
Several of us are trying to get cards with all the different first three number prefixs because each number designates a particular Harrahs. NOT that the card itself came from that casino. JUST THAT THE NUMBER ITSELF DESIGNATES A DIFFERENT PLACE...What a thrill to be picking up cards in Las Vegas or Laughlin and find a number "107"--
Cherokee, North Carolina or a number "106"--
Skagit Valley, Washington (which doesn't even exist as a Harrah's now). Now I am perfectly aware that that individual card may have just been punched out of the machine in Las Vegas, BUT the 106 number still represents Washington to my collection. I now have an entire large binder of nothing but Hartrah's cards and there are several charts made up showing all the numbers cross referenced with the different manufacturers ptinted variations. There are several of us that trade these back and forth constantly trying to each have as complete a number/varaition collection as possible. Even though this holds no interest for you two, there are some of us that find it quite facinating to see how many different we can get.
NOW Harrah's has added a "dot.com" thing on the back of the cards, so guess what, we now have to start all over again with a new variation of all the different numbers with "dot.com" on the
reverse and add a new column to the charts.
I fully understand that you don't care to recognize these, but please don't make it sound like they cannot be considered as a division of collecting. To many of us it has afforded hours of fun collecting and I would hate to have what you are saying stop new people from doing the same thing. Janice O'Neal--collector of too many casino things and not about to stop. Newest addition--water bottles with casino name labels.
