OK, then ...

... your head says it is OK to punish David Whalen because he ...

I'm sure you know, Archie, that anyone who hires someone else to commit a crime for him is equally guilty of that crime. By analogy, any club member who hires David Whalen to produce any of his "non-genuine" chips -- or who commissions the repair of chips -- is as "wrong" in commissioning the work as David is in doing it.

That being the case, by your standards, it would also be appropriate for the club, even in the absence of a complaint by anyone, to summarily punish a club member who publically admits having commissioned the production of Whalen chips.

So, when are you going to advocate the expulsion of any member who publically admits hiring Whalen to commit such "wrongs" for them?
