Here is a photo of the bar at Barney's Old Homestead. I would guess it's from about 1920. Thanks to all for the added info on the Avenue Club. I knew that the Avenel Social Club in the first Barney's picture had nothing to do with the "Avenue Club". They are on the opposite ends of Bellevue. I was told that this Avenel place was once a theater, then later they had dances there. The folks that now own the building that Barney's was in told me that it was built in the 1870's. it was a hotel, restaurant, bar and brothel over the years. They also said it was a stag bar. Women were not allowed in the bar area even up to the 1950's. That's Barney Sproehnle on the left.
