I look forward to seeing the results from the microscope. I'll have to get one for the light collection if it works.

I have tried real photos, which capture the true colors the best, but it's too expensive and they must be scanned.

Digital cameras seem to have a color response that produces a blue tint in addition to the UV true colors. But much easier and far less expensive.

As for lights, here are three.

The plug in works best and has the best light for bringing out the UV markings. No batteries to replace, can be found at almost any hardeware the UV bulb is Not Cheap. (I got this one at a rummage sale for a few bucks) You can buy a fixture or use any standard flouescent fixture. They make the larger sizes as well, but this 15 Watt is a good size.

The portable light is probably the best all around and not that expensive. I bought this one at a coin show, under $20. It doesn't produce as much light as the 15 Watt, but works fine. Nice size.

The little keychain light, is UV but not the right spectrum. It will show some markings, but for $10 or so, it's not functional. Designed for checking currency for markings to see if it's counterfeit.
