At the Convention this year one of Dick Covington's Educational Seminars included the Owner/Founder of Chipco (his name escapes me right now). His discussion seminar was most excellent! At the end he allowed for questions and answers and I asked about the security markings on Luxor $1 chips.
He said that the UV marking was done at Chipco's suggestion, but did not offer a reason why. He also did not give a reason why the UV marking was not included on the other denominations.
I then asked if it was on purpose that some $1 chips have different UV markings between the two sides, i.e., "LUXOR" on one side and "PYRAMID" on the other. He said that those are errors, as there was no intention to have them different of both sides.
I will add however, that this does not seem to be an un-common error.
