Might as well give my opinion as well.

Being that my email is still down (Monday evening 9:00 PDT.) and I have nothing better to do, here is my opinion.

First of all, I do not get anywhere near the pleasure of collecting these L.E. or for that matter many other chips as I did when I first started to collect, which was about 4 years ago or so.

Slot cards are a lot more fun at the present, but I will leave that topic for another thread.

With the growth of members in the club as well as others that are not in the club, I believe that collecting current LE's will, in the "long run" turn out to be a great investment. Again, I stress "the long run." Just as the stock market is still a good investment for the long run, so are chips, slot cards, rooms keys, and even ice machines and slot buckets, bungie cords, etc. In other words, anything casino related.

Personally, I don't ever expect to make any investment money with this hobby as I am too old. But if you youngsters in your 30's and 40's hold on to these Limited editions chips for your retirement years, I can see big bucks for you when you may need it. I expect when my time comes, my grandkids will sell these pogs the day after my funeral for peanuts to one of you people reading this message.

My one word of advice to you is to be sure you don't pay top dollar for these chips--$7.00 including postage should be the maximum if you ever want to realize a profit. Go to any chip show including the convention and one can buy most of these LE for $6.00. I have already decided, that when and if my new chip service raises his prices, I'm out of it.

If your not looking to realize a future profit, then I guess it's alright to pay your $8.00 or $9.00. After all these dealers are in business and a profit must be made and with the cost of postage increasing the way it is, their prices are not that far out of line.

Which is a better investment--LE or obsoletes? In my opinion (again it's just my opinon) but I believe the same dollar amount invested in LE's will garner the individual more money then in a obsolete. In other words, I'd prefer to buy 10 $5.00 LE's for $70.00, than 1 obsolete $5.00 chips for $70.00. But remember, I've been wrong before. If just one of those 10 LE's turn out to be in high demand, you're a winner.

Another tip. For investment purposes, stick to Nevada chips. If I were to sell my California collection, I'd be lucky to get $2.25 per chip.
