The collector that collects based on appearance has the finer coin but production numbers usually satisfy demand, keeping cost lower. The collector that collects based on rarity may have a crappy bunch coins but there are fewer to go around and the price goes up due to short supply. Grading using the 70-point system seems to add a small amount of 'perceived' rarity. On the other hand ‘appearance’ collectors are looking for that perfect coin regardless how many were produced.
