I don't believe there really is a different chip! I will believe this theory of mine until it is proven otherwise: The lt. blue would be a severely cleaned chip using the pink gook that some still believe in ruining chips with. If used properly I have seen some chips come out ok. I prefer Armor All & have had excellent results.

I have been told CR has a variant with different edge colors too for this Dunes chip. I am not sure as don't have their current book with me to see if it is still in there but was a couple issues back. What happens is photocopies, as you mention about yours, are not always true to color. Especially the older machines. I feel they may of seen copies of chips & thought it was a variant. Variant colors do exist for several chips from reorders. I just don't think there is a chip or edge insert variant on this one.

There are many chips in CR that I will bet my collection do not exist! Colors that are listed like above. Molds for particular chips that don't exist, etc. I deal chips everyday & have seen more chips than all CR authors put together. It is very hard to convince me that some of these odd chips exist.

What is a shame is that collectors that do not know are looking hard for chips that do not exist. I get their want lists with the CR #'s & then I have to figure what they are wanting. I come up with a lot of chips that don't exist. I waste my time & they waste lots of their time searching the shows etc. We all make errors in books listing that many chips is such a huge chore. I just feel to really list a chip it needs to be seen, as I did with all the chips in my Official book. Errors can be very damaging & alot of real checking on colors needs to be done. I must admit of course I have some errors too. Mainly where I list 3 edge inserts & the chip really has 4. A few colors are off but that is another story. We all see colors a little different.
