"One of the problems that exist with grading is uniformity, you yourself stated that you may buy a chip at one grade but be expected to sell it at another".

I was talking about buying a raw coin or card at one grade and then when I wanted to sell them, the dealers always wanted to buy them back at a lower grade. That is the advantage of a graded coin, chip, card, whatever, you can always sell it back at the grade it was graded by the grading service. Dealers will always honor the grade if they deal in graded coins or cards.

"It should not come as a shock to you that chips are removed from their holders and re submitted until the desired grade is reached".

Trust me, it is not that easy. These grading services can grade a coin or card differently once in awhile. After all human eyes can see things differently from day to day, however remember, after a few months of grading chips, they will have graded more chips than anyone in his hobby. Trust me, you need a grading standard, even if slabbing is now going to be accepted. Without grading, dealers will come into this hobby and overgrade and overprice chips. I already regret a number of purchases I have made on eBay that the seller grossly (sp)over stated the condition of, even though I could see a scan of the chip. If I was a buyer of slabbed chips, I would pretty much know what a certain grade of chip would look like.

"In a recent post by Marv Weaver he showed a Sacagewea dollar thet was graded at MS 67 for $25 and one at MS 68 for $125.
I would be interested to know how someone could disatinguish this minute difference and whether they could do in consistantly".

I do not support a grading scale of 1-70. I would hope a grading scale of 1-10 would be adopted by another grading company or that IGC ralizes this hobby will not accept the 1-70 scale and changes their scale to 1-10 or something close to it.
