Oh yes, I've seen it many times. That "investor" you speak of who buys the 3rd party graded coin, puts it away for years, only to find that when they try to sell it, they will be lucky to get out of it what they paid. Why? Because the false comfort the novice collector/investor felt by buying a slabbed chip led him to pay much more than the thing was worth. But why should the dealer care, he is already retired now, right?
