Re: Four Queens $25 Arrow Dice Ending tonight

Steve; My past role as President of CC & GTCC (1988-1999) has nothing to do with the subject at hand. The club auction is not Ebay. It has been a club policy to publish a prices realized list in the club magazine for all to read. A newly elected Board could adopt a different policy. Different venues have different rules. I would suggest that you take your complaint to Ebay which allows such bidding.

I stand by my post in which many bidders are concerned about security. I know of collectors who refuse to join clubs for that very reason. They wish to collect in annonimity .... which is their right to do so. I can tell you that the recently concluded $10 million ANA auction in Atlanta by Heritage Numismatic Auctions does not disclose individual bidders. What does a bidder ID have to do with who the eventual buyer is? I may be purchasing chips under my ID, on a commission basis for someone else who does not want his/her identity revealed, while the real purchaser is silent.... who might have even have been Steve Piccolo! grin

Personally, I don't think it's anyone's business who the high bidder on ebay was/is. Too much collusion takes place between bidders on ebay. "Arrangements" between bidders is commonplace. People get upset if "a friend" bids against them. Others bid just to spite someone else. Last minute sniping takes place all the time on ebay, which tends to hold down prices ... the merits of which has been discussed here on this bb before. The advice given for those circumstances was to bid the top price you are willing to pay, and let the chips fall where they may. Same thing with the private bids. Bid what you want to pay. If someone beats you out, so be it. Until Ebay changes their policy... I guess we "snoopy" collectors will have to "live with it."
