I agree fully. A full membership Vote should be taken, especially on anything that will effect the overall membership. This is a situation that can and has gotten out of hand and show's all the signs of dividing the club members into different groups. Anti-Slabbers, Slabbers, Friends of Anti-Slabbers with friends that feel nether way about it. All though I was not a member in time to vote last year I was following everything via the Board. I personally would have thought that the club ONLY elected officers to run the financial operation of the Club. NOT A President of the United States and Congress. Therefore anything that involves a view or any changes to the hobby SHOULD involve a VOTE of the entire membership. Wether it be SLABBING, PUCHASSING A CLUB HOUSE, or ANY CHANGES to the existing By Laws or Rules of Conduct already established. No member wants to alienate him or herself from other members of the club by expessing a view or opinion. Continued bickering only fuels the fire. As a collector I know there are chips I will never be able to acquire. There are some that in time I will acquire, BUT if those are soon priced out of my range buy SLABBING, then those too will have to be added to my list of unobtainable chips and this will put an end to my collecting Chips as has happened with Coins. Over the years I have seen "collecting" changed and destroyed either by the producers of the "collectable Item" or the collectors themselves. It dosen't matter if it is Stamps, Coins, or Beanie Baby's. I would hate to see this Hobby be destroyed by over pricing or mass production. BUT no matter what the outcome ALL MEMBERS MUST have a VOTE in which direction this Hobby goes. Remember you Voted for Club Officers NOT Dictator's. IMO.
