Re: Allen ...
In Response To: Re: Allen ... ()

Once again the red-herring ANA comparison is made. CC & GTCC is NOT a CHAPTER of ANA. That's the difference. CC & GTCC is not governed by ANA.... but Chapters of CC & GTCC are governed by the National, that's the difference. CC & GTCC has it's own Constitution and ByLaws that make certain requirements of it's chapters mandatory.... ANA does not. That's the difference. We're two completely different organizations. You may live in a red house. I live in a blue one. I don't understand why some folks at this date still have a problem with that concept.

But to get to the main issue... if we can have an serious exchange of dialog over the back yard fence, so to speak. Allen, contrary to what you believe, I too share your concerns. The Atlantic City Chapter has the same problem that you and the Colorado Chapter face.... and more; simply because of it's large size. I don't know for certain how many of more than 300+ A.C. Chapter Members hold CC & GTCC membership. But if the current ByLaws proposal passes, maybe 10%, 20%, 30% or higher of non-club members will be faced with three choices. 1. Join the National. 2. The Chapter will have to revoke the individual chapter memberships of those who don't comply. 3. The Chapter may decide to withdraw from National. Additionally, in the event the new ByLaw passes, the current A.C. Chapter President has stated that he will not preside over a Chapter that requires all of its members to be CC & GTCC members.
The way I see it, the National loses no matter which way the ByLaws vote goes.

What's to stop another member seven months from now to propose a ByLaws change that would put Humpty Dumpty back together again as it is presently constituted? I have offered an unpalatable solution to the problem by suggesting doing away with all Chapters as an option. It's like holding one's nose when swallowing bad tasting medicine ... just to be done with it. The Chapters, through their elected officers, with few exceptions have made it very clear that they don't want to be under the thumb of a National organization and having to abide by mandatory rules. Well, like children who want their independence, sometimes parents have to reluctantly let their kids go. I'm not alone in this unorthodox way of thinking. Two other well-respected former club officers (Janice O'Neal and Chuck Tomarchio) have expressed similar feelings through posts of their own on this very bb. I've not discussed this matter with either of them prior to their individual posts. I'm relatively certain that members of CC & GTCC who currently hold chapter membership will still maintain their national membership if the club were to abolish Chapter status. Hopefully, the former Chapters will still promote membership in the National to their new and old members of now independent local clubs. It certainly would end the bickering back and forth that presently exists over who is and who isn't a club member .... and mandatory requirements to be a Chapter .... and what ANA does and does not do. I don't appologize for the way I feel. I simply tell it as I see it. Some agree, some disagree. Somebody has to make the tough call in the end. Your turn, Allen. I'm listening to your solution.
