Re: Slabbing How will you stop it??????

Hey Robert,

In my humble opinion, there is a difference between determining the condition for an auction Vs a grading scale that a Slabbed has... The condition that the sellers on ebay use also needs to be taken with a grain of salt, as they are "hyped" to try to sell the piece. Especially when the seller uses an image of one item, then ships a different one. I'm not saying that all ebay sellers practice this - yet some do.
Also, some my cry that this is why we need a slabbed chip - I disagree. A scan of the actual item up for auction is the best way to present the item. I know that a lot of sellers don't have a scanner/digital camera and thus do not post an image and therefore have to relay on a description and this is a problem.
Yes I know I'm not a seller (As I have never sold anything on ebay), nor do I know how much time it takes to put up an auction on ebay. However, I do know how much time it takes to generate an image of an item, as well as the upload times to various hosts.

One problem with slabbing that was pointed out in an earlier post - the cost of slabbing is that it costs the seller to have the chip slabbed. However, which chips warrant slabbing? A current house chip? or ???

I agree the best way to stop it is to not buy a chip that is slabbed from a dealer or an ebay auction or other auction houses...

Regards,

Dick
