Re: Flamboyan, Puerto Rico, $1 Chips

Just my personal opinion -- small key $1: $5 to $8; H-mold $1: $8 to $12. But I don't have any extras for sale, nor do I need them.

BTW, I DO like collecting P.R. and Caribbean chips. As you know, P.R. chips are the oldest licensed casinos on U.S. soil, except for Nevada chips. Even older than Atlantic City. Lots of interesting history, designs and molds used with P.R. and other Caribbean chips too.

The difficulty with P.R. chips is that the number of collectors, and demand for chips from P.R. is pretty small as compared with other locations. It takes much less quantity for a chip to go from scarce to available. The destruction policies of closed P.R. casinos varies considerably from one location to the next. I do agree with Archie's post that many P.R. chips are scarce (and will probably remain scarce). I don't think the market will be as volitile as the Cuban chip market of the last 10 years, but just my opinion.

I'm sure I have some P.R. chips in my collection that have gone up in value, and also some that I could pick up today for less than I paid, though I don't really track such changes. If I find a chip that I want, and it fits my budget, I get it. If it's too expensive, I move on and don't worry about it. As new supplies emerge, I generally like it, as I may find new chips to pick up, even if it means some other chips in my collection are worth less than they were before.
