Thank you Greg..... that has been my position all along ever since this grading debacle began. First of all, chips are not "minted". Coins, tokens and medals are "minted". Chips are manufactured, or assembled. There is much more to be taken into account when describing chips, which is why a numbering system simply will not work. What is wrong with verbal descriptions when offering a chip for sale? Can you imagine the field-day sellers would have on ebay describing their "rare" chips using a MS (Mint State) system that was designed for coins? MS? Hell No! I think it's more like BS!
