The Real Issues
In Response To: ALL THIS KISSIN' UP ()

Chuck, my friend, if I may interject a calm word here: There are two issues in this contoversy.
1) Are the chips being unethically misrepresented?
Everybody has their own idea of what constitutes a rare chip. The only definition I have seen is the standard that Campiglia & Wells arbitrarily established in their book. I have not seen or heard universal acceptance of that standard (why am I not supprised by that?) Until the CC>CC establishes an Official Club Standard, in my opinion, there is no standard. Therefore, this issue reduces to: "I do not agree with Dean's standard, & therefore I am going to trash him until he conforms to my ideas". I strikes me that this is a dangerous way to think -- whether it is about chips, religion, morality or politics.
2) Are any collectors being hurt?
I have been a faily consistent follower of e-bay for a couple of years now. I cannot recall ever seeing any of Dean's chips go fo an unreasonable amount (given the occasional exuberance of 2 spirited bidders after the same chip). Most have sold at or below TCR "low book". It appears that everyone has a handle on the real value of these chips. So, what is the problem? Why don't we all get into the Spirit of the Season and work on a Holiday Attitude?
