... one hour instead of five minutes. If, anytime after you have entered the originally scheduled final hour of the auction, a full hour passes with no new bid, the auction would end. As I said, substitute any time limit you like and the principle remains the same. Essentially, eliminates bid sniping, because the now #2 bidder will always have at least some period of time to increase the bid.

Disadvantage to buyers, of course, who will sometimes end up paying more for the same merchandise. ----- jim o\-S
