Hi Travis; Which $2.50 metal center BJ Playboy chip are we talking about? Will need a better description on the $2.50 Playboy chip, as there are two of them. There was one with brown letters that went for $1400 in the "live" club auction in Las Vegas this past August at Orleans... the successful bidder was Russel Diaz who paid $1400 plus 10% commission.... I purchased the exact same chp on the following day from Russell for $1800. Another one was auctioned in Howdy's sale just a couple of weeks prior to the convention for almost double that. Just goes to prove that sometimes auction records are not the last word on value and reflects the difficult task cataloguers have in assigning values which are sometimes controversial. I list the less valuable $2.50 BJ metal linsert Playboy chip with white letters in my catalog at $125-150. I'm sure that some have paid less, some have paid more for both varieties..
Please allow me to make what I feel is an important suggestion to posters on this BB. Please be more specific in the title of your posts. Normally, I don't click on "Value Of Chip" headings. Had "Playboy" or "Atlantic City" been included in the heading I most certainly would have read the post. I wonder how many other BB users skip over certain subjects ? (I know Gene reads everyone of them). Had it not been for Travis' private e-mail to me about this post, I would have never read it... or the responses. Happy chip hunting, Archie
