Re: Bookdealer is Back

JIM: I tried going to #21841773 but eBay said no such number or that the item did not exist. Is that a correct listing? I'll try the regular search in a moment, but that is taxing.

I have seen these chips [which by the way were produced by U. S. Playing Card Co. from at least the turn of the century--I have a set of 300 with a presentation plate marked 1911.] at many shows--most dealers displaying them as "Nazi" chips--so I patiently tell them where they were from; some believe me-some don't [they are usually asking $5 per chip!]. I bought my first in 1977 answering an ad in the Antique Trader when the owner said he had "Nazi" poker chips for sale--brought home by a cousin before WWII from Bremmerhaven, Ger. I wrote Dale Seymour about my "great find" and he wrote back telling me that while they may have been bought in Germany, they certainly were not made there. The chips appear in U.S. Playing Card catalogues [and I have a few of them dating to 1906] as examples of their "Paranoid" chip--whatever that means.

I would like to write my friend and second your advise. So I'll try again.

Best wishes
