Hi Archie, I'm glad to see we're on the same page on this too.

I think this issue is one that could be rectified within the powers granted to the Gaming Commission. They can regulate cage practices within the casino, they can approve variations of the games played, and they can accept or reject chip designs for any reason (just ask Gene), as well as a number of other "small detail" matters. What they can't do is: raise the stakes; add new games that aren't a variation of already approved games; or issue licenses in places not already approved. Any of these changes require a vote of the people of the State Of Colorado.

All of the suggestions that I've been reading here are worth the effort to heed this practice from EVER being repeated. If a casino wants to put a $1 chip into a keyring and sell it for $4.95 in their gift shop, fine. That is the place to buy such a souvenir. I personally don't see much difference between the keyring and a lucite case IF the chips were available from the cage (or on the tables, even as some type of premium or prize) as chips in the first place... When the casino realizes that they will still make money selling the chips in the case at the face value of the chips, they sell out in a day. Bronco Billy's Cripple Creek knows it, will do it again, and JP McGills knew it too.....
