I have what I feel is a very reasonable and practical solution that the casinos could use if they indeed are worried about roulette "theft" especially for fraud purposes. As you all know each table has six or seven different colored chips to keep the players from picking up another players bet. Why is it impossible for the casinos to have two or three racks of chips for each color and have a denomination on each chip? It would not be difficult for the casino, when they wanted to change the table minimum to remove the old rack of chips and bring in a new rack of the higher denominated chips. Or the chips could be mixed and the only problem is that the dealer would have to check each chip for denomination. More work, yes; impossible, no. Today if you are at a $5 minumum bet table you will probably buy in at $1 per chip. When they raise the minimum to $10 they still give you chips for $1 each. You just need to play twice as many. So why not put the denomination on each chip?
