() Jay, that C. W. Rice order card information is fantastic, and completely solves the whole mystery.
The Doll House Card Club opened up at the mailing address (2001 L St.) in 1973. Below is a grand opening ad from 5/11/1973 (Sacramento Union).
Montanari's cocktail lounge (2003 L St.) was next door, and it was confusingly previously called the Doll House. The ad below is from 3/11/1972. I believe the two establishments were connected to each other, perhaps even physically.
The card room was owned by William Storey, who was more often called Bill Storey, and is likely the B in the B & T. Below is a newspaper snippet from 1973. There was previously a barbershop at 2011 L Street.
I got the above from Newspapers.com. With a little more digging, I could probably figure out who the T refers to. I'm guessing that it is likely the first initial of the first name of his business partner.
