I fondly recall the El Cap in the mid-1960s when you could take a Gamblers' Special overnight round-trip flight from Burbank CA for $10 that included a meal voucher and a roll of nickels!

They served a ground beef meal on a wooden plank - a practice that has been banned by health depts. Many ventured a few blocks to The Green Door, a brothel.

On February 18, 1969 the DC-3 crashed on return to Burbank. After a snow melt 5 months later the wreckage was discovered. All 35 onboard perished.

But or the grace of God I coudda' been on that ill-fated sojourn.
