One thing I think the CCA deserves a tremendous amount of credit for is helping preserve gaming history that otherwise might have been completely lost over time.
Through the ChipGuide, the convention, club publications, displays, and the knowledge shared by members over the years, an incredible amount of casino history has been documented and preserved by this organization and the people in it.
There are casinos long gone from the skyline that are still remembered today because somebody saved a chip, token, matchbook, postcard, photograph, or piece of memorabilia and took the time to share information about it with others.
That’s one of the things I think makes this hobby unique. We aren’t just collecting objects, we’re preserving little pieces of history.
So here’s a question for everyone:
What casino, current or long gone, do you think had the best overall chip design or look throughout its history?
Could be because of the colors, inlays, molds, edge spots, or just the overall feel of the chips.
Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts.
