I remember going through Beatty for the first time in
1966 and was shocked that gas was 75 cents a gallon
when it was 33 cents in the city. I would play on the
dice table at the Exchange Club and pocket a few of the
old blue dollar chips. I played all those mechanical slots
shown in the postcard. The place has been closed for
years but plans to reopen with a strange new look. At
one time there were nine bars in town. The M&M bar was
actually a brothel. It’s now the Sourdough Saloon.
