Responses to Comments

I want to clear the air on the many comments that I have been reading on this board. I hope this puts an end to the speculation on why I quit the Club.

When I resigned I was having a hard time with three issues which caused me great anguish. First of all, I was in the middle of my second bout with Covid and just spent 3 days in the hospital again. The previous time I spent 9 days in the hospital. I was having family problems that were not directly involved with the Club and I was also suffering from depression. I felt that I could not perform my duties adequately and thus resigned.

I turned over all the convention papers and listings of the Dealers, Helpers, Dealer applications and all the notes that were needed. Nothing was held back and I answered all the questions posed to me. I communicated with George D on the Helpers lists and well as the designation sheets for where the dealers and helpers could pick up their badges.

I also communicated with Steve Miller giving him the Dealer List for the Convention Program.

An email went out to all the Department heads for the show informing them that if they had questions I would be willing to assist providing they confirmed with the CCA BoD. I was contacted by 3 individuals

Another comment on my wanting to eliminate the trading sessions is only half the story. I polled many dealers and received 10+ comments that the trading sessions were being abused.
There were many abuses in that sales were happening rather than trades. One such instance happened to me. I left my trade book on the table and picked out a few from another person's book. When he looked at my book he didn't want any of mine so he told me to go to the Casino cage and get 3 red live chips so we could make a "chip" trade. I had never seen him before and he obviously didn't know who I was. I went to all of them the previous years and the room was often empty.

The room is supposed to be for Club members only but there were some in attendance with no required credentials. The appointed monitor had difficulty confronting people so he let things slide.

My first thought was to eliminate all the trade sessions except the last one which is held after the show ends. That proposal met with resistance from the Board so I offered a counter proposal. I asked Jim Follis to be that monitor in all the trade sessions to determine the legitimacy of continuing the sessions. He refused the appointment saying that he did not think that was appropriate. Those trade sessions would have taken up a short amount of time after the show closed for the night.

As the Convention Chair, I felt it was within my purview to make such a decision and did not need any Board approval as there were no costs to the club.

It should be known that the dealers pay for the convention with their table fees. To offer a free room(s) at no cost and let others circumvent the rules is wrong. My goal was to protect the dealers

Having spent the last 5 years as an Officer and 7 additional years as a Club member my actions were always for the benefit of the Club and I had no intention of destroying the Club when I resigned

Anyone who has faults with any of my actions should try walking in my shoes to understand the responsibilities for myself and the Club.

I will in the next few days post my Resume so that you will see my contributions to this Club. You will see my dedication and actions to further this Club that I care for very deeply

I will post another Campaign Statement on Thursday and Saturday on this board.
