We flew to Las Vegas around October 12, 2001. It was the emptiest and quietest plane ride we'd ever had.
We were at the Golden Gate and I saw that key chain. We already had the Silver Slipper ones, and I loved them, so I was thrilled to find the similar one from the Golden Gate. While I was buying them the cashier told me that they'd gotten a couple of phone calls from customers who had bought them in the past couple of weeks. I don't remember if she said that any had been confiscated, but they'd triggered TSA searches.
When we flew home I put that keychain, with the gun out of the holster, in the plastic tray to go through the scanner. I also pointed it out to the agent, and made sure she knew it's a souvenir keychain. She took it to a supervisor, before allowing me to keep it!
