Invitation Nevada Museums Showcase 2018...

The Nevada State Museum will be hosting a Nevada Museum Showcase this coming March 21st, at the Springs Preserve location of the Nevada State Museum and everyone is invited to attend.

The Museum of Gaming History is excited and honored to be included as one of 20 represented museums at this Showcase. The MoGH will have several Board members present at the event and a working, interactive display of ChipChip to show and demonstrate to all attendees.

Date: Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Time: Public Free Day - 10 a.m.– 5 p.m., Evening Event – 6 – 8 p.m.


§ Increase community awareness of museums in Nevada

§ Showcase cultural institutions

§ Reinvigorate Las Vegas Museum Alliance and Nevada Museums Association members

§ Provide example of cohesive efforts of cultural institutions in Nevada to increase community and elected support


§ Day event - Nevada families with children, students, Electronic and print media

§ Evening Event – Elected officials, VIP’s and their families

Target Attendance:

§ Free Day - 1,000, including 500 students on field trips, 10 a.m. – noon

§ Evening Event - 100

Site: Springs Preserve Origen Rotunda and Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas Rotunda

Participants include: (20 as of 1.29.18)

Clark County Museum; Discovery Children’s Museum; Fleischmann Planetarium; Las Vegas Natural History Museum; Las Vegas News Bureau; Lost City Museum; Museum of Gaming History; National Atomic Testing Museum; Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs; Nevada Museum of Art; Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas; Nevada State Railroad Museum Boulder City; Springs Preserve; Sunnyside Museum, Round Mountain; The Burlesque Hall of Fame; The Mob Museum, of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement; The Neon Museum; Tonopah Mining Park; UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art and Wilbur D. May Museum.


§ Museums will each be provided:

o Tables will be divided between Springs Preserve and Nevada State Museum – load-in begins at 8 a.m., March 21

o 6 ft. table, 2 chairs to provide information of their choosing – may include artifacts, printed information and/or small activity

o Access to power (please let us know beforehand so we can make arrangements)

o Please bring your own tablecloth if possible or let us know if you need linens provided

§ A printed passport will be provided to each child who will receive a check mark upon visiting each exhibitor

o Free Day - Completed passport to be redeemed at Nature Exchange for small prize

o Evening Event - completed passport turned in with contact information for raffle ticket to enter drawing for items donated by museums

§ Evening Event Keynote – Speaker TBD
