I went thru basic training at Ft. Ord in July - Aug of 1959. That was the only time I held a weapon in my 3 year enlistment. I wound up being a dental assistant in Heidelberg Germany after doing 8 weeks training in Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas. All in all not a bad experience. I did mange to make it to the big casino in Baden Baden while I was stationed in Heidelberg. Sadly I did not save any of the jetons from that trip but did get this one some years later. This is a two Euro chip worth a bit over $2. When I played there I used the 2DM jetons, worth about 50 cents at the time, to play roulette. They only had Roulette and baccarat back in those days.
