USPS Non-Machinable Again

grin

Thank You Jim and others: "60 cents for 1st Class, plus 39 cents for the NON-MACHINABLE surcharge"

I had one today that was 3.5oz, which is some kind of limit. I did the Quick Tools > Calculate a Price > Calculate based on shape and size = entered the zips and the weight... > contents is rigid (which would be the same as square or odd shape.

1oz = $0.99

2oz = $1.23 (.24) 2oz first class = .70

3oz = $1.47 (.24) 3oz first class = .98

3.5oz = $1.71 (.24)

If I enter 4oz it jumps to = $1.92 and doesn't ask for shape or non machinable. I tried 3.6oz also, $1.92 (.21)

3oz to 4oz is $0.45

5oz = $2.16 (.24)

6oz = $2.40 (.24)

If I read the regulations right, at 3.5oz the non machinable ceases to exist? On the other hand, (and I won't be taking it inside) it appears that these are just "letters" that weight a bit. But... if I click large envelope and 6oz, the non machinable choices show up again. (although they are no called that) $5.40

So I tested Large Envelope at 4 oz (Rigid) which is $4.80, and 3 oz $4.80 and 2 oz $4.80 and 1 oz $4.80. I concluded that a large envelope, rigid is going to be $4.80. At 5 oz it changes to $5.40

Hey look, the same if I click "Package" $4.80 until 5 oz when it changes to $5.40

Large Envelope and Package are the same. Non-machinable LETTER only applies up to 3.5oz before it becomes a heavy letter.

All of this is subject to review and correction, but I think I finally have it right. Hopefully there won't be any changes too soon?

Just mailed a 3.5oz Non Machinable envelope and decided to just stick a couple of forever butterflies on it ($1.76) and call it done. 😎
