As I recall, the Winnemucca Hotel was built in 1868 the year Winnemucca was founded. I never
stayed there but we ate the Basque dinners several times. We all sat at one table and passed around the plates. At that time the owner was Mike Olano a big Basque with a booming voice. I would
always try to get him to look through that safe for old chips but he never would. The old Brunswick
bar was identical to the one at the Boondocks. It was eventually sold to someone out of state.
For some reason the place was being torn down a little at a time. I think it's probably gone by now.
