Come to think of it, though - the Tule River people ARE building a new casino near the Plano Airport just south of Porterville, so maybe they discovered the same loophole (whatever it might be) that the Chemehuevis have with Barstow.

San Pablo pulled it off with some back-page allowance in a Federal bill, but California Gambling Control Commission apparently does not recognize this casino as legit. It's not on their list of tribal gaming sites.
