Soboba Casino chip hunt

Well, whaddaya know? The $5 and $25 limited edition chips were available for the asking from the dealers and the Gaming Manager, just as promised. Only catch being, there were few $5 chips at the tables, only one or two per table and some tables had none. The outer rings for the $5's have white/black/white/black/white inserts so they show up easily in the racks. The inlays have those "cellophane" covers that scratch really easily (like the Magnolia House series and it looks like the $5 chips have seen at least a month's use, if not longer. But, better late than never. And I congratulate Soboba for makings its limited chips easily available.

The $25 chips seem to be in good supply but I did not buy many. Leprechaun with two steins of green beer on one side is predictable but I did a double-take when I saw the FIVE-LEAVED golden clover on the other side.

On the way to the casino, going down Route 79 through Lamb Canyon, I spotted a Chevy Colorado pickup truck that made me laugh. Well, I turned off at Gilman Springs Road to take the back way to Soboba and the driver went south on Route 79. I got to the casino, parked with an empty space next to Cat Trac Truck and went in for fun 'n chips. And when I came out, there was the Colorado parked next to my pickup. C'mon, what are the odds of that???

Just about as low as my going to the Africa Big 5 Slot Machine after buying the chips, giving it one spin and having a column of Five Animals "5X" come in the first column; three rhinos in the next column; three more rhinos in the next column; three more rhinos next; and after a lot of teasing and spinning in the fifth column - three more rhinos. Rhinocerized, for the Rhino Progressive!! $470 jackpot.

Oh, I earned enough points from the jackpot to qualify for the Soboba Mask Giveaway but when I asked about it - I was told that promotion had already ended. Bummer.

I don't usually photograph others' vehicles but I just had to. I mean, it's bad enough we make our poor pickup trucks haul bales of hay sideways through Loxahatchee and scratch 'em all up, but can you spot the thing the owner makes his poor Chevy go through? Cat Trac Truck offers sympathies.
