Looks like a Possum Box!

There should be a tray attached to it. The tray holds chips, or an Opossum. There is a lid on top of that. Played in Great Britain as ". Not sure how, but my guess is: you throw in the opossum, it leaps out, knocking up some of the numbered tabs. Best numbers win!

I have one here, made of wood (felt-lined box). Lacks the lid, and I'm still waiting for the opossum to come into my living room to try it out.

The game is known as SHUT THE BOX.

We have the Kenya type Opossum in FL.
Supposedly Opossums came from Virginia.
