It was in a club convention auction. I don't recall the date, but it was when Howdy was still doing the auction catalogs. Probably when we were still at the Aladdin. Final price sounds about right.

My old auction catalogs are not where I can access them easily. If anyone REALLY wanted to research, the old catalogs are in the club library, and the auction results were likely in a quarterly club magazine for that convention.

One more recollection -- as Howdy had the chip in his possession while preparing the chip for auctioning, he photographed the chip (with owner's permission) and made a nice framed enlarged picture of the chip. He donated it and entered the framed picture in the auction (proceeds to go to the club), and he managed to be the high bidder of it. All on the up-and-up.

I imagine he still has it. A nice looking piece of chip history.

Since that single example of the $5 Golden Goose appeared, there has never been a sighting of another. Unique is how the Camplia book lists it.
