I was picked to be on the show a few years back but declined. They offered me 2 night stay at the Rio I think and some food vouchers. I could have brought in some chips and had a free hotel stay and a few meals for doing so. But I didn’t feel up to doing it on their time and not really into being on tv.
I suppose it coulda been fun, and yes they are all staged. People like me that visit the shop can fill out a paper and get chosen to appear.
