Eric, great article. Some pretty familiar Vegas names there. I liked the sketch on Tutor Scherer
who was involved in many of the old Vegas clubs. I was always fascinated by the fact that he
was Poet Laureat of Nevada appointed by the governor in 1950. He ran a bookmaking operation
out of the old Jim Jefferies Bar in LA and that back bar is now in the Backstop bar in Boulder City!
I worked for Al Scherer and his brother at the Golden Gate in 1967 but didn't know enough to ask
if they were related. (They HAD to be) Tutor sure had a fascinating life. Thanks for posting.
