Promoting the Club (craigslist)

Hey all. I decided to start a PRODUCTIVE thread on how to increase the visibility of the club and encourage sign-ups. I don't know if this will work or not, but I included my membership number in the ad so it would be nice if Roy Nelson would be sure to ask all new members how they heard of the club and if they can't remember, ask if they saw a craigslist or facebook ad or if a member referred them, etc).

Anyway, in keeping with my PRODUCTIVE theme, here's what I just now posted in the Reno Craigslist under Community/Groups. This could be duplicated in all Craigslist areas. Best done by a local member in each city to have stronger affinity and followup with a local chapter/group.

Hi. If you collect ANY type of casino memorabilia (also known as ephemera), including chips, ash trays, lighters, cards, dice, slot machines, matchbooks... you name it, it's of interest to our club. I don't think links are allowed in posts, so just google Casino Collectibles Association and click on the link that has c c g t c c in the domain (they shortened the name from "Casino Chip and Gaming Tokens Collector's Club" a while back, and go by CCA these days.

There's a free discussion board, lots of advice (need help identifying where something came from?), and if you're looking for a special piece to add to your collection, just ask and someone is bound to have it or know where you can find it. Buying, selling, and trading are not only allowed, but encouraged.

Annual membership is cheap, and attending the annual convention in Las Vegas in the summer is a must-do activity. Once you attend the first time, you'll want to make it an annual trip for sure. But there are also local groups that meet up regularly throughout the country (and the world!).

If you DO sign up, please mention my name and membership number, which is R-9037. Not because I get any bonus (maybe a virtual pat on the back), but because we as a group are looking for ways to encourage more people to join and that's an easy way to track progress. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, but I'm just a regular member, so I may direct you to a board member if I can't answer directly.

Hope to see you online and in person (whenever this COVID stuff goes away).

I included a couple of pics (just one of some chips and one of matchbooks).
