The terms Sample and prototype are excellent when there is documentation. If not, and we use either term, it can easily cause confusion and any misinformation can lead to uncertainty... and that is my sole.concern. Thus my suggestion an unknown chip should remain an unknown chip for the purpose of submission to ChipGuide when it is certain that it is not a sample of an inventory/shipment... and, in place of the term "possibly" I feel the description should read "Unknown" and entered away from the actual, known-for-fact chips.

Example: What if a few of these chips in question turn up and are offered as samples of either a portion of a shipment halted for delivery or some made-up story that they are a lost and unknown BACKUP issue... (when there was no backup) and ChipGuide says the chip is a sample...(sample of what?)?
