Protection? If so, file claim through eBay. If not, let Seller know so that he/she can file claim with Post Office. (There may have been insurance.)

Seller may also be self-insured and can send a replacement or refund your purchase price (sans shipping).

If Seller takes no responsibility for shoddy packaging, file a claim with eBay.
