Robert, in no way was I thinking of a deal outside of eBay. I am aware of the penalties associated with such activity being an eBay seller myself, since 1997. I was merely looking for a dialogue with the seller and possibly a buy-it-now purchase if he were to accept my offer. I have purchased many items this way on eBay in the past. The seller did not respond with an answer...that's my only concern. It just seems odd that a seller would just ignore a prospective buyer.
