Joel, each banquet does have a theme although I am

Not sure what it is for this year yet.

The convention chairs should announce it before long.

Seating is assigned although many people who buy full tables announce open seats.

If your not on a specific table already, you will be assigned with 8-9 others which is actually a great thing as no matter where you sit, you will make new friends.

Now I know some people like Jim P have been an opponent of the banquet for quite a few years now.
Not sure exactly why that is as th speakers alone are worth the price of admission.

Over the years we have had some outstanding speakers and having dinner with 100+ friends and fellow chippers.

Now I know many years ago the food wasn't very good, but that was at the Riv, and all the food kind of sucked there. Since we have been at the South Point, the food is 1000x better.

We also used to do a buffet style meal but for the past few years we have done a sit down server multi course meal which is much nicer.

Some may complain that $50 is too much for a meal and you can get a better meal for cheaper elsewhere. However I would argue that this same meal would cost $30-40 anywhere else once you add in tax and tip. And that is not considering you get to eat with all your friends, hear an awesome speaker, and much more.

For me it's a can't miss event !!!!!!
